New Mini TIDEL Parks Boost IT Presence in Smaller Cities. To strengthen its information technology sector, Tamil Nadu is establishing Mini TIDEL Parks in cities like Tuticorin and Thanjavur, aimed at attracting IT companies to these regions. The Mini IT Park in Tuticorin, already fully leased prior to its opening, reflects the increasing demand for office spaces in tier 2 locations. Each park can accommodate around 500 IT professionals, providing essential amenities and fostering local employment. With a commitment to distributed growth, Tamil Nadu is poised to transform its economy by tapping into the potential of its smaller cities. The Tamil Nadu government has secured a major investment from Vietnam-based electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast, which will invest ₹16,000 crore to establish a car and battery manufacturing facility in Tuticorin. In the first phase, VinFast will commit ₹4,000 crore over five years, generating 3,500 jobs and enabling the production of 150,000 vehicles annually. Additionally, TP Solar Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy, has begun producing solar cells at a large facility in Tirunelveli, enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities for solar modules and supporting renewable energy initiatives in the state.
