Contardi Lighting, an esteemed Italian brand, has joined forces with designer Adam Tihany to introduce a remarkable lighting fixture that combines elegance and sustainability. ‘Air Light’, this newly designed suspension lamp, emits a warm glow and adds a touch of personality and charm to any space. With its unique design and eco-friendly attributes, Air Light exemplifies the perfect blend of aesthetics and ecological consciousness.
The collaboration between Contardi Lighting and Adam Tihany is aimed to address the question of what truly constitutes ‘green lighting’. Their answer materialised in the form of Air Light, a suspension lamp that is 100 percent recyclable, highly functional, and visually captivating. The creation of Air Light reflects a deep exploration of both ecological and design principles, resulting in a lighting fixture that goes beyond mere illumination.
Air Light features a dual lampshade design that creates an enchanting interplay between light and shadow, thanks to its intricate laser-cut engravings. The carefully crafted design produces a warm and inviting ambience, making it a centrepiece that captivates attention.
Significant efforts were made to minimise Air Light’s environmental impact throughout the development process, from design to production. The lamp is constructed using Green Cast, an acrylic material renowned for its recyclability. Green Cast utilises recycled industrial waste and end-of-life products and maintains its mechanical, thermal and aesthetic properties even after multiple recycling cycles. Moreover, Contardi Lighting applies the cream-coloured finish during production, eliminating the need for a separate lacquering phase and further reducing the lamp’s environmental footprint.
The Air Light fixture exudes an ethereal and sculptural quality, creating an illusion of upward and downward floating. Its upper and lower LED lights emit a soft and encompassing glow, enveloping any room in a warm, cosy and tranquil atmosphere.
