UP IT-ITeS exports crossed Rs 1 lakh crore for the first time in 2025-26, more than doubling in five years as growth continued across Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) units and special economic zone (SEZ) operations, according to figures released by the state’s IT and Electronics Department.
Principal Secretary Alok Kumar said exports from Uttar Pradesh stood at Rs 1,01,970 crore in 2025-26, compared with Rs 48,004 crore in 2020-21. The figures were compiled from IT and IT-enabled services units registered with STPI and from SEZ-based units operating in the state.
Exports from STPI units rose from Rs 25,642 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 52,778 crore in 2025-26, an increase of Rs 27,136 crore. The segment recorded a compound annual growth rate of 15.5% during the five-year period.
SEZ-based IT-ITeS exports increased from Rs 22,362 crore to Rs 49,192 crore over the same period, a rise of Rs 26,830 crore. The SEZ segment recorded a higher compound annual growth rate of 17.1%.
The two channels together accounted for the state’s reported IT-ITeS export growth. Officials said the sustained increase indicated a gradual widening of Uttar Pradesh’s technology ecosystem beyond its traditional hubs, while the government works to attract more technology companies and create opportunities for the state’s skilled workforce.
The expansion is also visible in Lucknow, where companies including IBM, Genpact and Teleperformance have established offices. Their presence has contributed to the city’s emerging IT ecosystem and increased the visibility of technology services as an urban employment sector outside the country’s established technology centres.
Kumar said the expansion of the IT-ITeS sector was expected to support further investment and create employment opportunities, particularly for technical and IT professionals in the state. The department’s figures place the export milestone within the government’s broader effort to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as an IT and IT-enabled services destination.
