Cyberabad has recorded the immersion of 1,19,667 Ganesh idols during the ongoing Ganesh festival, while the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has separately collected around 6,000 kg of flower waste from designated immersion points over the past 11 days.
The municipal operation is combining idol-immersion arrangements with the segregation of floral offerings, keeping the waste separate from other material generated at the sites. The collected flowers are being segregated, dried and processed into products including incense sticks, dhoops and diyas, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.
The effort places flower waste within the civic management system rather than treating it as mixed waste after immersion-related activities. The municipal corporation is processing the collected material for reuse, giving floral offerings a second use after they are brought to immersion points during the festival.
The number of immersions recorded so far covers activities across Cyberabad during the ongoing celebrations. The report does not specify the number of designated immersion points or provide a location-wise breakdown of the idols immersed and flowers collected. It also does not state the capacity of the processing facilities being used for the floral waste.
The separate collection is taking place alongside arrangements for devotees bringing idols to the designated points. With more idols expected to be immersed, the CMC has said that it will continue both the immersion arrangements and flower-waste collection today and tomorrow.
