Western Railway will impose a four-hour overnight jumbo block between Vasai Road and Bhayandar on September 26 and 27 for track, signalling and overhead equipment maintenance, with several slow-line suburban services diverted to the fast lines and some services cancelled.
According to a press release issued by Western Railway chief public relations officer Vineet Abhishek, the block will be carried out on both nights from 12.30 am to 4.30 am. The work will cover the up and down slow lines between Vasai Road and Bhayandar stations.
During the block, all slow-line trains running between Virar and Vasai Road, and between Borivali and Bhayandar, will be operated on the fast lines. The change is intended to allow maintenance work to be completed while limiting disruption to daytime suburban services, as the block has been scheduled during the midnight and early-morning hours.
Western Railway said some suburban services would be cancelled during the block period. The detailed list of cancelled trains will be available at stations across the suburban section, according to the railway administration.
The maintenance work will cover three operational components: railway tracks, signalling systems and overhead equipment. These systems support train movement and electric traction on the suburban network, making scheduled maintenance necessary to keep the corridor operational.
Passengers travelling late at night or in the early morning between Virar, Vasai Road, Bhayandar and Borivali have been advised to check station information for the list of cancelled services and any route changes before beginning their journey. The railway administration has not provided further details in the supplied notice about individual train numbers or the number of services to be cancelled.
The jumbo block is scheduled to end at 4.30 am on each of the two days, after which services are expected to resume according to the railway administration’s operating schedule.
