Navitas Solar plans to invest ₹10,000 crore over the next five years in Gujarat and Maharashtra to build an integrated clean-energy business spanning solar manufacturing, battery storage and renewable power generation, the company said on Thursday.
The investment will support expansion into solar ingots, wafers, cells and modules, along with battery energy storage systems and renewable power projects. The plan would extend the company’s existing solar module manufacturing operations into more stages of the clean-energy supply chain.
Navitas Solar is already building a 2.4-gigawatt solar cell plant at Sisodara in Gujarat. The first phase of the facility involves an investment of about ₹12 billion and is targeted to begin operations by July 2027, according to details shared by the company.
The company also plans to develop a 5-gigawatt-hour battery storage facility in Vadodara. Battery energy storage systems can support the integration of renewable power generation, although Navitas Solar did not provide further details in the statement on the facility’s construction schedule, technology or expected commissioning date.
In Maharashtra, Navitas Solar is developing solar parks with capacities of 200 megawatts and 25 megawatts. The company did not specify in the information released how the proposed ₹10,000-crore investment would be divided between the two states or provide timelines for each planned project.
Navitas Solar currently has annual solar module manufacturing capacity of 3 gigawatts. The proposed expansion would add manufacturing capacity across ingots, wafers, cells and modules while also broadening the company’s activities into battery storage and renewable power generation.
The investment announcement comes as the company positions the two states as the base for an integrated clean-energy business. Gujarat will host the solar cell plant and proposed battery storage facility, while Maharashtra will be the location for the two solar parks identified in the plan. The first stated operational milestone is the targeted July 2027 start for the initial phase of the Sisodara cell plant.
