Praneetha EcoCables Ltd has started commercial production at its greenfield facility in Sanand, Gujarat, and plans to begin solar cable manufacturing in October, the company said on Wednesday. The wire and cable manufacturer said the facility dispatched its first batch of bare copper wire on September 20.
The company plans to add building wires and flexible cables to the facility’s production schedule in November, according to Pranjal Goel, director of Praneetha EcoCables. The staged rollout will place solar cables ahead of products used in building and electrical applications.
The Sanand facility is part of the company’s plan to expand its presence in India’s wires and cables industry. Praneetha EcoCables said it will source 100 per cent of its primary copper requirements from Kutch Copper Limited, an Adani Group entity operating what the company described as India’s largest copper smelting facility.
Copper is a critical input for electrical wires and cables, including products used in solar power systems and buildings. By identifying a single domestic source for its primary copper requirements, the company said it is seeking to ensure product performance as it expands manufacturing. The statement did not disclose the facility’s production capacity, investment size or planned employment.
Praneetha EcoCables also plans to establish a pan-India dealership network as it targets a larger share of the domestic wire and cable market. The company said the sector is currently valued at more than Rs 1 lakh crore and could reach approximately Rs 1.6 lakh crore by 2030. These market estimates were provided by Goel in the company statement and were not accompanied by details of the methodology used.
The planned solar cable line comes as manufacturers compete to supply components for renewable-energy projects and electrical construction. Solar cables connect photovoltaic panels and related equipment, while building wires and flexible cables serve residential, commercial and industrial applications. The company’s production sequence indicates an attempt to serve both renewable-energy and conventional construction markets from the Sanand facility.
The immediate operational milestone is the planned start of solar cable manufacturing in October. This will be followed by the proposed launch of building wires and flexible cables in November, the company said. Further details on production volumes, dealership locations and the timing of the wider distribution rollout were not provided in the statement.
