Bengaluru traffic police have announced route diversions and vehicle restrictions across parts of northeast Bengaluru during a mass Ganesh idol immersion procession to Halasuru Lake on September 18. The restrictions will remain in force from 11 am on September 18 until 4 am on September 19, with commuters advised to use alternative routes.
According to the traffic advisory reported by Vijay Karnataka, the procession will begin from the Nagawara area and move through Tanery Road, the Vivianie Road junction, Pottery Junction, Clarence Railway Overbridge, Mask Junction, M.M. Road, Lazar Road, Buddha Vihar Road and Sindhi Colony Junction. It will then proceed through the War Memorial Junction and take a U-turn near the MEG Gate before reaching the immersion facility at Halasuru Lake.
Vehicle movement will be restricted on Nagawara Main Road and Tanery Main Road, around Netaji Junction and Pottery Circle, on the Tanery Road stretch towards Pottery Junction, and on Clark Road towards Pottery Junction. Restrictions will also apply from Mask Junction through the Clarence overbridge towards Pottery Road, at the Lazar Road–Pottery Road junction towards Sindhi Colony Junction, and along Buddha Vihar Road, Sindhi Colony Junction, War Memorial Junction and the road from Nagawara Junction to Pottery Circle.
The advisory covers roads under the jurisdiction of the KG Halli and Pulakeshinagar traffic police stations. It is intended to manage traffic during the mass procession and reduce congestion on roads connecting Nagawara, Pulakeshinagar, Shivajinagar, Lingarajapuram, Hennur and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Vehicles travelling from Thanisandra Main Road towards Pulakeshinagar and Shivajinagar have been advised to turn left at Nagawara Junction, take a right at Hennur Junction and then turn left at Chandrika Junction. They can continue through the Lingarajapuram flyover, H.M. Pottery Road, Kacharakanahalli Main Road and Davis Road towards Sindhi Colony Junction.
Motorists travelling from Netaji Road towards Tanery Road and Nagawara can turn right at G.K. Vale Junction and continue through Robert Road, Sindhi Colony Junction, Wheeler Road and Banaswadi Main Road towards Lingarajapuram and Hennur. Vehicles approaching Pottery Junction from Clark Road can instead use Lazar Road, the railway subway and M.M. Road to reach Pulakeshinagar.
Additional alternatives have been listed for vehicles travelling from Roger Road, Armstrong Road and Hall Road towards Pottery Road. These vehicles can use Vivianie Road and Wheeler Road towards Pulakeshinagar. Traffic from Mask Junction towards Pottery Road can use M.M. Road, Lazar Road railway subway, Pottery Road and H.M. Road towards Lingarajapuram and Hennur.
The advisory also prohibits parking on both sides of several roads. These include the stretch from Pottery Circle to Nagawara Signal, the road from Govindapura Junction to Govindapura Police Station, the stretch between Siddappa Reddy Junction in HBR Layout and Narendra Tent Junction, as well as M.M. Road, Pottery Road, Lazar Road, Buddha Vihar Road and Assaye Road.
The restrictions are scheduled to end at 4 am on September 19, after the procession and immersion-related traffic movement are completed.
