ACME Solar Adds 300MWh BESS Capacity to Rajasthan Project

ACME Solar Holdings has commissioned 66.68 MW of solar capacity and 300 MWh of battery energy storage capacity at Bikaner in Rajasthan, taking its operational renewable-energy capacity to about 3,057 MW and its operational battery storage capacity to 4.16 GWh.

The commissioning was carried out through two subsidiaries at the same project site. ACME Renewtech Pvt Ltd has commissioned the first phase of a 300 MW solar project at Kelan village, while ACME Greentech Seventh Pvt Ltd has commissioned 53.63 MW/300 MWh of the battery storage component of a firm and dispatchable renewable energy project.

The solar installation is part of ACME Solar’s first hybrid project, which combines 300 MW of solar capacity with 100 MW of wind capacity. The company has signed a power purchase agreement for the hybrid project with NTPC, while Power Finance Corporation is providing long-term project financing.

ACME Solar expects to commission the remaining solar capacity by the end of the third quarter of financial year 2026-27. Once complete, the hybrid project will combine solar and wind generation at the Bikaner site under the contracted power-supply arrangement.

The battery installation is part of a larger firm and dispatchable renewable energy project planned at the same location. The project has a planned battery energy storage system capacity of 300 MW/1,581 MWh. Its power purchase agreement has been signed with SJVN, and long-term financing is being provided by REC.

The company expects to commission the entire battery energy storage capacity by the third quarter of the current fiscal year. The first commissioned phase represents 53.63 MW of power capacity and 300 MWh of storage capacity within the planned 300 MW/1,581 MWh system.

Battery storage allows electricity to be held for later dispatch, making it relevant to renewable projects whose generation varies with sunlight and wind conditions. In this project, the storage component is being developed as part of a firm and dispatchable renewable energy arrangement rather than as a standalone battery installation. The Bikaner projects bring together generation, storage, power purchase agreements and long-term institutional financing at one site. The remaining milestones are the commissioning of the balance of the solar capacity by the end of the third quarter of financial year 2026-27 and completion of the planned battery storage capacity by the third quarter of the current fiscal year.
