Air India Flight Makes Safe Emergency Landing in Jaipur After Engine Snag

An Air India flight travelling from Bhopal to Delhi made a safe emergency landing at Jaipur airport on Sunday morning after a technical problem was reported in its left engine, with passengers later sent to Delhi by bus.

Flight AI 1886 was diverted to Jaipur after the issue developed while the aircraft was in the air. A full emergency was declared at the airport at about 9.40am amid concern over a possible engine failure, according to the report.

Air India said the aircraft was diverted in accordance with established safety procedures. The airline said the safety of passengers and crew remained its highest priority and that the aircraft was being subjected to a detailed technical inspection at Jaipur.

The airline did not disclose the specific nature of the engine problem or provide a confirmed cause for the incident in the statement cited by the report. The technical examination is expected to establish what led to the malfunction and whether the aircraft can return to service.

Following the landing, passengers were assisted by Air India’s ground team at Jaipur airport. They were subsequently sent onwards to Delhi by buses, according to airline sources cited in the report. The arrangement allowed the affected passengers to continue their journey after the flight was diverted.
