The enforcement drive covered all law and order and traffic police station limits within the Nizamabad commissionerate. Police said the checks were conducted to curb driving under the influence of alcohol and prevent road accidents across the three divisions.
The accused were produced before courts in Nizamabad, Bodhan and Armoor. According to the police, 124 offenders received one-week jail sentences. The remaining offenders were collectively fined Rs.1.45 crore, although the police statement did not specify the number of people in that group or the average fine imposed in individual cases.
