Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday marked 100 days in office by outlining government initiatives in education, public transport, investment, employment, technology and grievance redressal in a letter to the people of the state.

Shivakumar said the first 100 days had reinforced his responsibility to build a better future for Karnataka’s residents. He described the measures undertaken by his government as important initial steps, while acknowledging that public expectations remained high.
Among the initiatives listed in the letter was a 7.5 per cent reservation for government-school students in professional courses. The Chief Minister also highlighted free student bus passes, an initiative with direct implications for access to education and public transport across the state.
The government has cleared investments worth Rs 29,679 crore, according to Shivakumar’s statement. These investments have the potential to create around 66,000 jobs. He also referred to the Udyoga Nidhi initiative, which is intended to create one lakh new jobs in 10 of Karnataka’s most backward districts.
Shivakumar said recruitment to 72,000 government posts had been initiated. He also pointed to the creation of a dedicated “Praja Seve” department for grievance redressal under his direct supervision. The department, he said, would support the government’s stated objective of responding to public concerns and reviewing decisions when necessary.
Technology and youth-focused initiatives formed another part of the 100-day account. The Chief Minister highlighted the establishment of what he described as India’s first government-sponsored artificial intelligence university, along with the introduction of AI education from Class 6 onwards. He also listed the formation of 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas among the measures undertaken during the period.
The statement additionally referred to cloud seeding, without providing operational details in the account of the initiatives. Shivakumar said the government’s broader vision, described as “Drudha Karnataka”, was centred on an economically strong, socially empowered and technologically advanced state.
The Chief Minister acknowledged that farmers facing drought continued to require government attention. He also credited former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with laying the foundation for social justice and said the five guarantees had provided support and security to families across Karnataka.
Shivakumar said the next 500 days would require greater determination and effort. “As long as I breathe, serving Karnataka and Kannadigas will remain my Sankalpa,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to the state’s residents.
