Ganeshotsav Konkan train booking has tightened sharply, with major services from Mumbai showing full reservations, long waiting lists and ‘regret’ status on IRCTC for travel from September 10 onwards, leaving passengers with little scope for last-minute bookings.
The booking pressure is being reported as Mumbai-based Konkan residents prepare to travel to their native villages for Ganeshotsav. According to Loksatta, reservations on most trains operating on the Konkan route are full for the coming days, while waiting lists have also reached their limits. On IRCTC, ‘regret’ indicates that even additional passengers cannot be placed on the waiting list.
The congestion is particularly visible for the September 10 and 11 travel dates, when a large number of passengers have reserved seats for journeys to Konkan. The report attributes the shortage of available tickets to demand exceeding the number of trains operating on the route during the festival period.
Train number 12051, the Jan Shatabdi Express, is showing ‘regret’ status and substantial waiting lists in the Chair Car and other classes for September 10 and 11. The Vistadome coach on the service has also drawn strong demand, with its waiting list moving beyond 20. For September 13, the Vistadome coach was reported to be displaying ‘regret’ status.
The booking pattern indicates that passengers are seeking both regular seating and the Vistadome experience for the journey to Konkan. The Vistadome coach, with its wide-view travel experience, has emerged as a particularly sought-after option on the Jan Shatabdi during the festival rush.
The Tejas Express has also seen heavy demand. Its Vistadome coach for September 12 was reported to be in the ‘regret’ category, further reducing available options for passengers who have not yet secured tickets.
The booking situation has created difficulties for travellers attempting to finalise their journeys close to the festival. With reservations full and waiting lists closed on several services, passengers may not be able to obtain confirmed seats on the principal trains serving the Konkan route for the dates covered in the report.
