Mumbai | September 9, 2026 — A Central Railway block at Titwala will disrupt suburban services tonight, with 23 local train trips cancelled and services between Titwala and Kasara suspended during the overnight work window. The disruption is linked to platform extension work being carried out to accommodate 15-car local trains at Titwala station.
The special traffic and power block is scheduled from 11.30 pm on September 9 to 5.10 am on September 10. The block is the 13th day of a 15-day programme being undertaken at Titwala station. The wider work period runs from August 28 to September 11, with blocks of approximately five to six hours scheduled during the night.
During the block, suburban trains that normally terminate at Titwala will be extended to Asangaon. Trains scheduled to originate from Titwala will instead begin their journeys from Asangaon. The arrangement is intended to maintain train operations beyond the work zone while construction activity continues at the station.
According to the reported service changes, Central Railway has cancelled 12 down-direction local trips and 11 up-direction trips for the September 9-10 block. Some other services will be operated only up to Thane or Kalyan, shortening their usual routes.
The impact will also extend to the air-conditioned Titwala local service, whose journey will be restricted to Thane during the block. Suburban passengers travelling towards Kasara or Titwala will therefore need to check the revised service pattern and account for the changed originating and terminating stations before travelling overnight.
The work at Titwala is part of the station’s platform expansion for 15-car local trains. Longer platforms are required for these services to accommodate the full train length, allowing all coaches to be handled at the station. The construction has required repeated night-time traffic and power blocks so that work can be carried out on railway infrastructure while limiting disruption during the main daytime operating period.
The changes affect the Kasara corridor, which connects Mumbai’s suburban rail network with stations in the northern part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. For passengers, the operational arrangement means that Titwala and Kasara-bound journeys will be interrupted during the block, while selected services will continue only to intermediate stations such as Kalyan, Thane or Asangaon.
The special block is scheduled to continue as part of the announced programme through September 11. Further local service changes will depend on the remaining work schedule and Central Railway’s operational notices.
