A 27-year-old man was injured in a shooting in Pune’s Kondhwa area late Monday night after a group allegedly opened fire with a country-made pistol, police said. A case has been registered against eight to ten people in connection with the incident, and the accused are being searched for.
The injured man was identified as Saurabh Anil Trimbake, a resident of Laxmi Nagar in Kondhwa. Police said he was shot in the leg and was receiving treatment at a hospital. The report did not specify the hospital or provide an update on his medical condition.
According to the police account, Trimbake and his friend were standing near a Ganpati mandal’s temporary structure in Laxmi Nagar at around 11pm on Monday, September 7. The incident followed an earlier dispute involving Trimbake’s friend, Sagar Pandharkar, and the group named in the case.
Police said eight to ten people arrived at the spot and allegedly abused Trimbake before firing at him with a country-made pistol. The bullet entered his leg, causing serious injury, according to the report. The group allegedly fled after the shooting and created panic in the area.
Senior police inspector Santosh Khetmals visited the scene after receiving information about the firing. The accused named in the case include Aroh alias Chikkya Sunny Pille, Dadu Bhalerao and Jamba, along with other unidentified or unnamed people, according to the report.
