The CIDCO housing scheme for 4,793 economically weaker section (EWS) homes in Navi Mumbai has received 4,180 applications, according to the City and Industrial Development Corporation. The homes are located in the Taloja, Kharghar and Kalamboli nodes, and the final lottery list is scheduled to be published on September 10.
CIDCO launched the housing scheme on August 15 for eligible applicants from the economically weaker section. The registration process ended on September 3. The corporation said the number of applications reflected strong interest in homes being offered in planned areas of Navi Mumbai.
A draft list of applicants was published on the CIDCO Homes website on September 4. Applicants can submit objections or corrections concerning the draft list until September 8. CIDCO has said that information about the lottery process and subsequent stages will be made available through its official website.
The scheme covers homes in Taloja, Kharghar and Kalamboli, three Navi Mumbai nodes where infrastructure and connectivity expansion is under way. The announcement did not specify the individual project-wise distribution of the 4,793 homes or the prices of the units in the information made available.
Eligible beneficiaries may also receive assistance of up to Rs 2.5 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban. CIDCO said the subsidy will be available until September for applicants who meet the scheme’s guidelines and eligibility conditions. The assistance is intended to reduce the cost burden for eligible homebuyers.
With 4,180 applications received against 4,793 advertised homes, the reported application count is 613 below the total number of units. The final status of applications will depend on scrutiny of eligibility, objections to the draft list and the subsequent lottery process.
Ashwin Mudgal, CIDCO’s vice-president and managing director, said the response represented citizens’ aspiration to own homes in Navi Mumbai and their confidence in CIDCO’s planned development. He said the corporation remained committed to providing affordable and quality housing alongside expanding infrastructure and connectivity.
The final applicant list is due to be released on September 10. CIDCO is expected to provide further details on the draw and the next steps for successful applicants through the CIDCO Homes website.
