Suzlon has secured a 200 MW wind energy order from Ayana Renewable Power Ltd, the company said on Tuesday, September 8. The project will be developed across Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, with the Madhya Pradesh component to be executed in Limbawas and connected to the state grid operated by Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Ltd (MPPCL).
Under the order, Suzlon will install 64 of its S144 wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. The company will execute the project through its end-to-end engineering, procurement and construction offering, covering turbine supply, land acquisition, balance-of-plant work, the pooling substation, an extra-high-voltage transmission line, commissioning, and operations and maintenance services.
Suzlon described the order as its third developer-led wind order across two states. A developer-led, or devco-led, model involves an integrated approach in which the renewable energy supplier supports the project from early-stage site development through construction and subsequent services.
The company also said the order takes its flagship S144 3.x MW turbine platform beyond the 10 GW milestone. The platform is designed for utility-scale wind projects and will form the main equipment base for the Ayana development.
“With 55 GW+ wind potential at 150 metres, Madhya Pradesh is well positioned to be one of the key states which will drive the next phase of India’s wind energy growth,” Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman and Co-Founder of Suzlon Group, said in a statement. He added that Suzlon had won two consecutive wind orders from the state.
Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said the company’s integrated capabilities were supporting the development and execution of wind projects. He said Suzlon had secured four wind orders across two states in a short span of time.
The project will also mark Ayana Renewable Power’s entry into wind power generation in Madhya Pradesh. “This project marks an important milestone for Ayana as we establish our wind presence in Madhya Pradesh,” Lakshmi Narayanan B, Head of Business Development at Ayana Renewable Power, said. She added that the companies would work together to deliver the project and contribute to India’s clean energy transition.
Suzlon’s statement did not specify the project’s scheduled commissioning date, the expected annual generation, or the final capacity split between Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. The company said its scope would include operations and maintenance services after commissioning.
