Mumbai’s suburban rail network has expanded its fleet of air-conditioned local trains on the Central Railway Main Line, with 12 additional services introduced from Monday as part of an operational upgrade aimed at improving commuter comfort without reducing overall service frequency. With the latest operational changes, the number of Mumbai AC local services running on weekdays has increased to 120 across Central Railway’s suburban network. Of these, 92 services will now operate on the Main Line, while the Harbour Line will continue to run 28 air-conditioned trains. The expansion represents a steady increase in premium commuter capacity without affecting the availability of regular suburban services.
