Pune has taken a significant step towards strengthening urban environmental governance with the introduction of a new digital platform designed to support air quality management across the city and neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad. At the centre of the initiative is an advanced Decision Support System that provides high-resolution forecasts of air conditions across the Pune metropolitan region. Experts participating in the discussions noted that effective Air Quality Management increasingly depends on predictive tools rather than reactive measures. The initiative also reflects a broader shift in urban governance towards evidence-based policymaking.
