A new passenger rail connection between Rajasthan and Gujarat has entered service, creating an additional transport corridor linking Bikaner and Ahmedabad. The launch is expected to improve mobility between two important regional centres while strengthening access to trade, education, healthcare and tourism opportunities across western India.
The inaugural service was flagged off from Bikaner’s railway network by senior representatives from the Union government, marking another step in Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to expand intercity connectivity and improve access to major economic hubs. The route connects northern Rajasthan with Ahmedabad, one of western India’s most significant industrial, commercial and educational centres. Transport planners note that rail-based mobility continues to play a critical role in supporting balanced regional development.
