A major phase of construction is about to begin at one of Indore’s busiest transport junctions as engineers prepare to install an 800-ton structural component on the emerging Lav Kush bridge project, marking a critical milestone in the city’s evolving urban mobility infrastructure.The double-decker bridge rising at Lav Kush Square is designed to ease traffic congestion along a key corridor connecting Banganga, MR-10 Road, Ujjain Road and nearby airport routes. Authorities overseeing the project say preparations are underway to launch two massive bow-string steel girders weighing roughly 400 tonnes each, which together will form the central load-bearing framework of the bridge.
The engineering operation is expected to take place during late-night hours to minimise disruption at the heavily used intersection. Specialised cranes and precision lifting equipment will be deployed to position the components, which represent one of the most technically demanding stages of the construction process. Urban infrastructure officials estimate that around 85 per cent of the bridge construction has already been completed, with the girder installation representing the most complex remaining task. Once these structural elements are successfully placed, the project will move into finishing stages including deck construction, road surfacing and safety installations.
