The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has reclaimed a government-owned plot valued at Rs 10 crore. The 5,000 square metre land, situated on a bypass road near Roopwas village in Greater Noida, had been illegally occupied by colonisers attempting to develop an unauthorised colony.
The GNIDA, under directives from its top officials, initiated a robust campaign targeting illegal encroachment within its notified areas. According to a statement from the authority, a dedicated team, supported by security personnel, conducted a demolition operation on Friday, effectively dismantling the illegal structures and reclaiming the encroached land.
The reclaimed land, strategically located near the Roopwas bypass, is of considerable value due to its prime location. The official overseeing the operation, from GNIDA’s Project Department, emphasised the authority’s firm stance against land encroachment. The official warned that individuals engaging in such activities would face stringent actions.
Officials also issued a cautionary note to potential investors, urging them to avoid investing in colonies developed on illegally encroached land and stressed that such investments not only risk financial loss but also contribute to the illegal occupation of government property, which the authority is committed to eradicating.
This action forms part of a broader initiative by GNIDA to protect public land from illegal colonisers and ensure that development in Greater Noida adheres to legal and regulatory standards. The authority’s campaign against encroachment aims to safeguard public assets and prevent the proliferation of unauthorised settlements, which can undermine planned urban development and infrastructure projects.
The successful demolition and reclamation of the 5,000 square metre plot highlight the GNIDA’s resolve to maintain the integrity of its notified areas. This decisive action is expected to deter future attempts at illegal colonisation and reinforce the authority’s commitment to upholding the rule of law in land development. The GNIDA’s approach underscores the importance of coordinated efforts and vigilance in addressing land encroachment issues. By proactively targeting illegal constructions, the authority not only recovers valuable land but also sends a strong message about its zero-tolerance policy towards encroachment.
The GNIDA’s recent operation against illegal colonisers near Roopwas village is a critical step in its ongoing efforts to protect public land and ensure orderly development in Greater Noida. Potential investors are advised to exercise due diligence and verify the legality of land and property before making any commitments.
