YIPS Hyderabad Sets April 2027 Deadline as Student Capacity Expands

The Young India Police School (YIPS) at Manchirevula is expected to make its Academic Block-I fully operational by April 2027, after Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand directed officials to accelerate construction and complete the remaining infrastructure work ahead of the next academic year.

Anand issued the instructions during an inspection of the ongoing works, where he reviewed construction progress and infrastructure requirements with senior officials. He also approved several works and directed officials to ensure that the school has well-designed classrooms, laboratories and a suitable learning environment.

The school is being developed to provide education from Nursery to Class XII, in line with the government’s stated vision of creating an institution offering international-standard education. The project is being monitored through committees responsible for academics, infrastructure, corporate social responsibility, recruitment and finances.

Officials informed the DGP that YIPS currently has 345 students enrolled up to Class VI. The school aims to accommodate around 720 students in the next academic year, while its infrastructure is ultimately being planned for a capacity of 1,000 students.

The scale-up places the construction schedule and the design of the academic facilities at the centre of the project’s next phase. The immediate requirement is to complete Academic Block-I in time for the April 2027 operational target while ensuring that classrooms, laboratories and other facilities can support the projected increase in enrolment.

During the inspection, Anand stressed discipline, quality education and career guidance. He said students needed proper guidance and a supportive environment, particularly amid concerns over the influence of drugs among youngsters. The school’s educational and institutional responsibilities therefore extend beyond classroom construction to the support systems planned for its students.

The DGP said YIPS would benefit children of police personnel as well as the general public. The proposed expansion consequently involves both the school’s original institutional role and a broader public-facing education capacity, although the supplied report does not specify the admission criteria or the proportion of seats reserved for different groups.

The project’s governance structure includes separate committees overseeing key functions, including infrastructure and finances. Their role will be significant as the institution moves from its current enrolment of 345 students towards the stated target of 720 students in the next academic year and eventual infrastructure capacity for 1,000.

The next confirmed milestone is the completion and operationalisation of Academic Block-I by April 2027. Officials are expected to continue construction and related infrastructure work in accordance with the deadline set during the DGP’s inspection.
