South Western Railway will operate a special express train between Yesvantpur and Bidar on September 25, with a return service to Bengaluru Cantonment on September 26, to handle additional weekend passenger demand on the route.
Train number 06589, the Yesvantpur–Bidar Special Express, will leave Yesvantpur at 11.15 pm on September 25 and reach Bidar at 2.15 pm the following day. The service will stop at Yelahanka, Hindupur, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Guntakal, Adoni, Mantralayam Road, Raichur, Krishna, Yadgir, Shahabad, Kalaburagi and Humnabad.
The return service, train number 06590, will depart from Bidar at 4 pm on September 26 and arrive at Bengaluru Cantonment at 6 am the next morning. Its scheduled stops are Humnabad, Kalaburagi, Shahabad, Yadgir, Krishna, Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Adoni, Guntakal, Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Hindupur and Yelahanka.
The two services will connect important stations across Karnataka and the adjoining rail corridor, including Bengaluru, north Karnataka and parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana-linked routes served through the network. The operating schedule provides an overnight outbound journey from Bengaluru and an evening departure from Bidar for the return trip.
According to the announcement, the special train will have 20 coaches. The composition includes one AC two-tier coach, three AC three-tier coaches, 10 sleeper-class coaches, four general second-class coaches and two second-class luggage, guard and Divyangjan coaches.
The additional service is scheduled for the specified dates only. Passengers travelling from Yesvantpur, Bidar, Bengaluru Cantonment or the intermediate stations will need to check the applicable reservation and operational details before planning their journey. The train’s stops include major urban and regional centres such as Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Raichur and Yadgir, as well as smaller stations along the route.
South Western Railway’s decision comes as the railway network prepares to accommodate higher weekend demand. The announcement specifies the departure and arrival timings, station stops and coach composition for both directions, with no regular-service change indicated in the information released.
