The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) has sanctioned a budget of ₹13 crore for various civic projects.
This initiative aims to address the pressing needs of both urban and rural areas, focusing on improving roads, drainage systems, and community facilities. The allocation comes in response to persistent demands from residents for better civic amenities. Urban sectors, particularly Sector 18, have been grappling with inadequate drainage systems, leading to frequent waterlogging. Yeida plans to construct a comprehensive drainage network in this sector to mitigate the issue. Additionally, efforts will be made to complete unfinished development works in various urban areas.
In rural regions, the focus is on enhancing basic infrastructure to improve the quality of life. A tender worth ₹2.68 crore has been issued for internal development works in Shahpur village, Sector 20. This includes the provision of electricity, water supply, roads, and sewage systems. Furthermore, a boundary wall along the 45-metre road in pockets A and D of Sector 20 will be constructed at a cost of ₹34 lakh. Sector 22D residents have long complained about inadequate drainage, leading to water accumulation on roads. To address this, Yeida has initiated the construction of cemented drains along the 45-metre and 30-metre roads, with an estimated expenditure of ₹6.98 crore. Additionally, pipeline work costing ₹37 lakh will commence to ensure a consistent water supply to homes in the sector. In Sector 22A, drain construction is planned at ₹60 lakh, and bush clearance operations will be undertaken in Sector 22E.
The authority is also investing in community development projects. An e-library will be established in Karol Banger village, Work Circle 6, at an estimated cost of ₹32 lakh. This facility aims to provide residents, especially the youth, with access to digital resources and learning opportunities. Moreover, interlocking and permanent drains will be constructed in Tirathli, Nangla Handa, and Dayanpur villages. Pond renovation works are also slated for Ahmadpur Chhirouli and Neemka Shahpur villages. Yeida officials have outlined a clear timeline for these projects. Bids for the aforementioned tasks will be open from May 15 to 28, with the pre-qualification bid for the e-tender scheduled for release on May 30. Tenders for the additional works will commence on May 14.
This comprehensive infrastructure development plan aligns with Yeida’s broader vision of fostering sustainable and equitable urban and rural environments. By addressing critical infrastructure gaps, the authority aims to enhance the overall quality of life for residents in the Yamuna Expressway region.
