Western Railway will operate a night-time jumbo block between Vasai Road and Bhayandar on September 26 and 27 for track, signalling and overhead equipment maintenance, with several slow-line suburban services cancelled and others diverted to the fast lines.
According to a release issued by Western Railway chief public relations officer Vineet Abhishek, the block will be imposed on both the up and down slow lines from 12.30 am to 4.30 am on both days. The work is scheduled during the overnight period, when passenger movement is lower than during the daytime suburban peak.
During the block, all slow-line trains running between Virar and Vasai Road, and between Borivali and Bhayandar, will be operated on the fast lines. This change will alter the normal stopping pattern for affected services and may require passengers to check the revised service information before travelling during the block hours.
Some suburban services will also be cancelled during the maintenance window. Western Railway said that the detailed list of cancelled trains would be available at stations across the suburban section. The advisory does not provide a separate service-by-service list in the information released by the railway administration.
The block is part of routine maintenance work carried out by Western Railway to keep the suburban network operational. Such blocks temporarily suspend traffic on the affected route or shift trains to another available line so that engineering and electrical work can be completed within a defined period.
For commuters travelling late at night or in the early morning between the Vasai Road, Bhayandar, Virar and Borivali sections, the main operational change will be the movement of slow-line services on the fast lines. Passengers using the affected stations have been advised through the railway’s station-level service information to verify the cancellation and diversion details before beginning their journey.
The maintenance block is scheduled to end at 4.30 am on September 27, with the same 12.30 am to 4.30 am window applying on September 26 and 27.
