According to statements made by the Union Railway Ministry during a visit to West Bengal, multiple railway projects are progressing slower than planned because a substantial portion of the land required for construction is yet to be handed over. The Centre maintained that while significant financial allocations have been made for the state’s rail network, project execution has been constrained by pending clearances and land acquisition processes.Officials indicated that railway infrastructure worth tens of thousands of crores has already been sanctioned for West Bengal, with annual budgetary support continuing for ongoing works.
