One person was killed and two others were critically injured after a car overturned near Pamen Gate in Chevella mandal of Telangana’s Vikarabad district on November 1, with local residents raising concerns about the condition of a small bridge at the accident site.
According to police, the car was travelling towards Pamen Gate when the driver reportedly lost control near a bridge. The vehicle overturned and landed on the opposite side of the road. Another occupant escaped with minor injuries.
The occupants were identified as Raj Kumar Goud, Murali Goud, Oggu Venkatayya and Karla Shivakumar, all residents of Potgal village in Shabad mandal. Raj Kumar died at the spot from severe injuries, while two others suffered critical injuries. The report did not specify the identity of the occupant who sustained minor injuries.
Motorists and local residents who noticed the crash alerted an ambulance. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital before two critically injured persons were shifted to Continental Hospital in Hyderabad for further treatment.
Police suspect that the driver may have lost control while travelling at speed. Local residents, however, said the accident may also have been linked to the condition of the bridge. They alleged that the road had caved in on a small structure built to allow rainwater to flow beneath the road.
The reported condition of the bridge has not been independently established in the available account, and the police investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing. The local residents also said that a similar accident had occurred earlier at the same spot, resulting in the death of another person from Potgal village.
The incident highlights the immediate safety implications of road sections built around drainage crossings, particularly where surface damage or structural deterioration is reported by users. Any official assessment of the bridge and the road would be needed to establish whether infrastructure conditions contributed to the crash.
The available report did not provide details of the bridge’s construction agency, maintenance responsibility, repair history or any official action announced after the accident. Police and the relevant road authorities are expected to establish the circumstances of the crash and assess the condition of the site.
