Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has inaugurated and laid the foundation for 18 significant developmental projects in Champawat district, amounting to ₹113.65 crore.
These initiatives span various sectors, including tourism, infrastructure, water supply, and urban development, aiming to enhance the region’s facilities and promote sustainable growth. During his visit to the Chief Minister’s Camp Office in Tanakpur, CM Dhami inaugurated 13 schemes valued at ₹47.86 crore and laid the foundation for five new projects totaling ₹65.78 crore. The projects encompass the construction of a multi-storey parking facility at the Tourist Rest House in Tanakpur, beautification of Sipti Waterfall, development of Himadri Emporium Centre, and establishment of a Heart Market Craft Centre in Shyamalatal. Additionally, major drinking water schemes, including Bagdorakhas and Nayal, are set to improve water supply in the region. Extensive road improvement and reconstruction projects, such as the Sukhidhang-Danda-Minar Motor Road and internal village roads, are also part of the development plan. Furthermore, the construction of residential and non-residential buildings in Champawat Jail and the upgradation of Maa Purnagiri Temple access routes under the Manaskhand Corridor are included in the initiatives. A Panchmukhi Gaushala is also being constructed under the Tanakpur Municipal Council.
In his address, CM Dhami emphasized the importance of integrating the experiences of senior citizens into governance and district development. He reiterated the government’s commitment to simplification, resolution, and citizen-centric governance, stating that all schemes and welfare benefits are now integrated online to reduce public hardship and ensure transparency. He directed officials to respond swiftly to citizens’ concerns, ensuring no one has to run from office to office for redressal.
These development projects align with the state’s vision of creating zero-net carbon, eco-friendly, sustainable, gender-neutral, and equitable cities. By focusing on infrastructure improvement, water supply enhancement, and promoting tourism, the initiatives aim to foster inclusive growth and improve the quality of life for the residents of Champawat district. The government’s proactive approach in addressing the region’s developmental needs reflects a commitment to balanced and sustainable urban planning. As these projects progress, they are expected to contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of Champawat, setting a benchmark for future initiatives across the state.
