UltraTech Cement reported a 21% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,494 crore for the July-September quarter of FY27, while revenue from operations increased 19% to Rs 23,295 crore, signalling stronger construction-material demand despite monsoon disruption and the ongoing West Asia crisis.
The company’s profit rose from Rs 1,232 crore in the year-ago quarter, according to its results announcement. Revenue from operations increased from Rs 19,607 crore in Q2 FY26. UltraTech’s net sales also grew 19% year-on-year to Rs 23,024 crore during the quarter.
The year-on-year improvement was accompanied by a weaker sequential performance. Consolidated net profit fell about 43% from Rs 2,599 crore in the preceding quarter, while revenue from operations declined 5.5% sequentially, according to the reported results. Net profit margin stood at 7% in Q2 FY27, compared with 6% in the year-ago quarter and 11% in Q1 FY27. Operating profit margin was 16%, unchanged year-on-year but lower than the 21% recorded in the previous quarter.
Total consolidated expenses increased nearly 18% year-on-year to Rs 21,339 crore during the quarter. UltraTech’s net worth rose a little over 2% year-on-year but fell around 7% sequentially to Rs 77,702 crore.
The company said in an exchange filing that it performed despite a monsoon-affected quarter and the ongoing West Asia crisis. Domestic grey cement sales volumes rose nearly 14% year-on-year to 35.94 million tonnes from 31.58 million tonnes in Q2 FY26. UltraTech attributed the volume growth to disciplined execution, a wider market footprint, cost optimisation and a sharper focus on premium products.
Capacity utilisation increased to 71% from 66% over the same period last year. The company said higher volumes and improved profitability strengthened its position in the market. Cement demand and capacity utilisation are closely watched by the construction and real estate sectors because they reflect activity across housing, infrastructure and other built-environment projects.
UltraTech also launched its wires and cables business, Ultravolt, during the quarter. The company said it is building a pan-India distribution network and has commissioned a manufacturing facility at Jhagadia in Gujarat. Its planned capacity involves the consumption of 78,000 metric tonnes of copper and 24,000 metric tonnes of aluminium, which the company said positions it as the second-largest player by capacity in the housing-wires segment.
UltraTech said Ultravolt had received a strong market response, with retailers, electricians and industry influencers endorsing its product portfolio for quality, safety and performance. The company did not provide a separate financial contribution from the new business in the reported quarter.
The results also affected investor sentiment. UltraTech Cement shares were trading about 2% lower at Rs 10,690 apiece after the announcement, according to the report. The stock had gained more than 1% in a week but declined more than 3% over the previous month and over 10% so far in 2026. It was down 14% over the previous year, while delivering positive returns over longer periods.
The company’s latest results will now be assessed against its ability to sustain volume growth, manage sequential margin pressure and build its new housing-wires business as construction activity continues across India.
