Road repairs around the Shri Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga temple in Nashik have received approval from the National Monument Authority (NMA), clearing the way for repair, widening and beautification works ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2027, Nashik collector Ayush Prasad said.
The approval was granted during a recent video conference chaired by the NMA to review infrastructure proposals around the ancient temple. The meeting was attended by Prasad, Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority commissioner Shekhar Singh, officials from the Archaeological Survey of India and senior administrative officers.
Four proposals submitted by the administration were reviewed during the meeting. They covered road repairs, modern waiting rooms with toilet facilities, covered pathways and the repair and renovation of the Vidhi Bhavan building. The NMA granted immediate approval only for the road repair proposal, according to the collector.
Prasad said the approval would allow the administration to undertake necessary road repairs, widening and beautification around the temple premises. The stated objectives are to improve traffic flow and strengthen safety arrangements for pilgrims visiting Trimbakeshwar during the large religious gathering.
The remaining three proposals have not yet received final clearance. NMA officials indicated that approvals for the waiting rooms and toilet facilities, covered pathways and Vidhi Bhavan renovation would be issued after the administration submits the required technical documents.
The collector said concerned officials had been instructed to accelerate the submission of these documents so that the pending works could be taken up in time for the Kumbh Mela. The proposals are intended to improve facilities for devotees and support arrangements for the expected movement of large numbers of pilgrims through the town.
The approval comes as Nashik and Trimbakeshwar authorities review infrastructure around the temple ahead of the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Traffic management, pilgrim safety and arrangements for seamless darshan are among the priorities identified by the administration.
The NMA’s clearance is therefore limited to the road works at this stage. The administration’s next formal step is to submit the technical documents for the three remaining proposals and seek their final approval from the authority.
