Trains Disrupted at Ahmedabad Railway Station Due to Major Engineering Works

In a bid to enhance the infrastructure at Ahmedabad Railway Station, the Indian Railways has initiated a crucial 30-day engineering block for repairs on Platform No. 3’s CC apron. This project, aimed at improving the station’s safety and efficiency, will temporarily affect several trains between December 13, 2024, and January 11, 2025. While the work is essential for long-term operational stability, commuters should brace for significant disruptions to their travel plans.

During this period, Train No. 09274, the Ahmedabad-Anand MEMU, will be completely cancelled. This cancellation will affect a large number of passengers who rely on the service for daily commuting. Furthermore, several other trains will face partial cancellations or rerouting, exacerbating the travel inconvenience. Train No. 09327, running between Vadodara and Ahmedabad, will not operate between Anand and Ahmedabad. Similarly, Train Nos. 09316 and 09315, both MEMU services connecting Ahmedabad and Vadodara, will operate with partial cancellations on select sections. Additionally, the 19035 Vadodara-Ahmedabad Intercity service will be short terminated at Vatva station, with disruptions extending between Vatva and Ahmedabad.

These changes, while necessary for the ongoing maintenance of critical railway infrastructure, pose challenges for thousands of commuters, particularly those travelling during peak hours. The limited availability of alternate services may lead to overcrowding and delays. Such disruptions bring attention to the need for better management of major engineering works, ensuring that they cause minimal inconvenience to the public.

From a sustainability perspective, the engineering works align with the long-term goal of upgrading infrastructure to support a more efficient, eco-friendly transportation network. By modernising platforms and improving the station’s capacity, Indian Railways is enhancing its infrastructure to better serve a growing urban population, contributing to reduced carbon footprints in the long run. These repairs, once completed, will facilitate smoother operations and safer travel for the passengers, which in turn supports the sustainability goals of the Indian Railways.
