Teri, Thomson Reuters Foundation Host Workshop on Green Jobs

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), in collaboration with the Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF), recently conduct an in-person workshop titled ‘Building Resilient Future: Investing in Green Jobs and Reskilling for Women Workers’ in New Delhi.

This event was strategically planned in the context of India’s G20 presidency for 2023 and aligns with concurrent Business20 (B20) and Think20 (T20) discussions. The primary objective of the workshop is to establish an inclusive platform bringing together various key stakeholders, including representatives from India’s private sector, civil society, media, academia and labour organisations. Their collective aim is to deliberate on the pivotal role that green job financing and reskilling initiatives can play in fostering sustainable solutions for both Indian workers and businesses.

As the world confronts environmental challenges, the green job sector has emerged as a focal point for driving economic growth and addressing climate change.  Women workers, in particular, stand to benefit significantly from the green job sector. Ensuring that they have access to opportunities in this growing industry is essential for promoting gender equality and empowering women economically.

By bringing together diverse stakeholders and fostering dialogue on green jobs and reskilling for women workers, Teri and Thomson Reuters Foundation are contributing to India’s commitment to sustainable development and gender equality.
