Telangana Rain Alert: Heavy Showers, Thunderstorms Likely This Weekend
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has forecast heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds at isolated places across Telangana on Saturday and Sunday, offering relief after a prolonged dry spell. Hyderabad is expected to remain cloudy, with thunderstorms and light to moderate showers continuing through the coming week.
According to the forecast issued on Friday, heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds is likely at isolated locations across the State over the weekend. The weather shift is expected to coincide with Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, when increased movement and outdoor activity can raise the need for attention to local weather conditions.
For Monday, the IMD has forecast widespread thunderstorms along with light to moderate rainfall. In Hyderabad, light to moderate showers and thunderstorms may occur at isolated locations through Wednesday, while generally cloudy conditions are expected across the city.
The forecast places Hyderabad’s maximum temperatures between 30 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius during the coming week. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain between 23 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius.
The expected rain follows a prolonged dry spell in Telangana. The forecast does not provide district-wise rainfall totals or identify specific urban locations likely to receive the heaviest showers. It also describes the stronger rain and gusty winds as isolated, indicating that conditions may vary across the State and within the Hyderabad region.
The IMD forecast covers Saturday and Sunday for the weekend alert, followed by the Monday outlook for widespread thunderstorms and light to moderate rain. Hyderabad’s cloudy conditions, intermittent thunderstorms and isolated showers are expected to continue until Wednesday, according to the weather department’s forecast.
