The Telangana Cabinet has taken crucial decisions on river water sharing, infrastructure expansion, and welfare schemes to boost inclusive development across the state. From addressing the River Godavari issue to expanding the Regional Ring Road and upgrading municipal structures, the Cabinet focused on long-term planning. Several announcements also centred around agriculture, education, sports, and health, reinforcing a comprehensive vision for state-wide growth.

The Cabinet assured that no Godavari river water would be lost due to the Banakacherla project proposed by Andhra Pradesh. Plans were made to present the full scope of Telangana’s opposition and actions in a detailed briefing to representatives in early July. This decision aims to reinforce the state’s water security and maintain transparency in handling inter-state water sharing challenges amid growing regional demands.
Key infrastructure approvals included the remaining 201 km stretch of the Regional Ring Road, from Choutuppal to Sangareddy. The project, partially sanctioned by the Centre, will enhance connectivity across the Hyderabad periphery. In urban development, the Cabinet cleared the formation of two new municipalities—Indresham and Jinnaram—and upgraded Isnapur by merging nearby villages. These decisions are expected to support planned urban expansion and governance efficiency.
On the welfare front, the Cabinet approved the extension of ₹9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme to support farmers. Additionally, the government will install Telangana Thalli statues in all district collectorates to honour cultural identity. A sports policy revision was also cleared to expand the sports quota, with Cabinet meetings scheduled twice a month to track progress and improve execution across departments.
Educational and health initiatives were also prioritised, with the Cabinet sanctioning an IIIT at Mahabubnagar and an engineering college at Husnabad under Shatavahana University. In the health sector, steps were announced to boost cancer prevention and care, supported by expert guidance. The upcoming release of the ‘Telangana Rising Vision’ document will further outline the state’s blueprint for future development across sectors.
With an agenda touching water security, welfare, infrastructure, and institutional growth, the Telangana Cabinet’s latest decisions reflect a focus on balanced, long-term development.
