Tamil Nadu’s power supply is currently being maintained without shortages after the state electricity board procured an additional 2,000 megawatts and initiated other immediate measures, according to a statement reported by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
The board said the steps were intended to ensure regular and uninterrupted electricity supply across the state. It stated that there is currently no power shortage and that supply is being maintained consistently throughout Tamil Nadu.
A senior officials’ team at the electricity board headquarters is monitoring the state’s power grid and distribution position around the clock, the statement said. The team is authorised to issue instructions and take necessary action based on supply conditions.
The announcement places the focus on procurement and real-time grid monitoring as the board’s immediate mechanisms for maintaining supply. The statement did not provide details on the cost of the additional power purchase, the source of the electricity, the duration of the procurement arrangement or the demand conditions that led to the decision.
For consumers, the board said electricity-related complaints can be registered through Minnagam, its 24-hour consumer service centre. The helpline number provided by the board is 94987 94987.
The board’s statement did not identify any specific areas facing disruptions or provide a separate forecast for upcoming demand. It said the headquarters monitoring team would continue to track the grid and distribution situation and issue instructions as required.
