Mumbai’s local train network, a lifeline for millions of commuters, is set to experience significant disruptions on Sunday, October 27th, due to a scheduled mega block on both the Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR). These essential maintenance works, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and ensuring safety, will lead to cancellations, diversions, and short-terminations of numerous train services.
On the Central Railway, Down Fast line services departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10.25 AM and 2.45 PM will be diverted to the Down Slow line at Matunga. Similarly, Up Fast line services originating from Thane between 10.50 AM and 3.00 PM will be diverted to the Up Slow line at Mulund. Additionally, Harbour Line services between Panvel and Vashi, as well as Trans-Harbour Line services between Thane and Panvel/Nerul, will be suspended during the block period.
The Western Railway will also witness disruptions. Up and Down Fast line services between Churchgate and Mumbai Central will be halted from 10.35 AM to 3.35 PM. Several train services will be canceled or short-terminated during this period. To minimize inconvenience, commuters are strongly advised to check the latest updates from railway authorities and plan their journeys accordingly. It is highly recommended to avoid non-essential travel during the block period. The railway administration has appealed to passengers to cooperate and understand that these maintenance works are crucial for the long-term safety and reliability of the railway network.
