Shanthipura Road Potholes Bring Traffic to a Crawl Near Bengaluru

Shanthipura road potholes near Hebbagodi in Bengaluru’s Anekal area are causing daily traffic congestion and delays, with residents saying months of official inaction have left only part of the road usable.

The road connecting Hoskuru fruit market to Shanthipura village has deteriorated across nearly half its stretch, according to a report by Prajavani. The damaged section has narrowed the carriageway to the extent that only one car can pass at a time, increasing congestion for vehicles travelling between the village and nearby areas.

Residents said the road’s condition is affecting routine travel, with commuters unable to reach their destinations within the expected time. The disruption is particularly visible during school and college hours, when students are reportedly reaching classes late.

Shanthipura is located close to Electronics City and has several established layouts and apartment complexes. Residents said the lack of a properly maintained connecting road is creating difficulties for people living in and travelling through the area, despite the neighbourhood’s proximity to a major employment and technology hub.

Local resident Roshan said students face delays during school and college timings because of the congestion caused by the potholes. Another resident, Venkatesh, warned that residents could organise a protest if the road is not repaired and traffic movement is not restored.

Residents have called on the Shanthipura gram panchayat and the concerned authorities to fill the potholes and make the road usable for regular traffic. The report did not provide a repair schedule or an official response from the local body.
