A second Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd (KTCL) bus has resumed service on the Vasco-Bogmalo route after a meeting convened by Goa transport minister Mauvin Godinho to address commuter concerns. Authorities are also preparing to introduce a third bus on the route at the earliest.
The second bus had recently stopped operating on the route, affecting passengers dependent on public transport between Vasco and Bogmalo. Godinho said the decision to restore the service followed discussions with commuters and local authorities at Chicolna-Bogmalo.
“The meeting provided an opportunity to hear the difficulties faced by commuters and discuss practical steps to improve the service. The second Kadamba bus, which was recently not operating on the route, will resume service. Arrangements are also being made to introduce a third KTCL bus at the earliest,” Godinho said.
The meeting was attended by the Chicolna-Bogmalo sarpanch and panchayat members, KTCL managing director and officials, regional transport office officers, traffic police officials and private bus operators. The participation of both public and private transport agencies was intended to address service availability and compliance issues on the route.
Authorities have also been directed to take appropriate action against operators who fail to follow prescribed norms and inconvenience passengers. The direction places route operations under scrutiny as officials work to improve the reliability of services available to the local community.
Godinho said the route was particularly important for students, working people and families who depend on daily public transport. “For students, working people and families who depend on public transport every day, reliable bus services make a real difference. It is important that their concerns are heard and addressed, and that the service meets the needs of the people who rely on it,” he said.
He added that the government would continue coordinating with departments and transport operators to improve services and provide Bogmalo commuters with more reliable options. The next stated step is the introduction of a third KTCL bus at the earliest, alongside action against operators found violating prescribed norms.
