A dilapidated ramp at the municipal primary health centre in Sativali, Vasai East, is making it difficult for disabled residents, wheelchair users and other patients to enter the facility, according to a report by Loksatta – Vasai-Virar published on October 5, 2026. Residents are now demanding that the Vasai-Virar civic body repair the structure.
The health centre provides primary treatment and medical examinations to people from Sativali and nearby areas. The patients using the facility include women, children, elderly residents and persons with disabilities. The ramp at the entrance is intended to provide easier access for people who cannot comfortably use stairs or walk long distances.
However, the report states that the ramp has been in a deteriorated condition for the past year. Weak and damaged sections have made it difficult for disabled residents to walk over it or push wheelchairs into the centre. The problem has reportedly become worse after rainfall in the city and water accumulating in the surrounding area.
Patients told the publication that walking across the uneven surface has become difficult. Cracks in the ramp and large stones collected on it are creating additional obstacles for residents who use walking sticks. The same damage is making it particularly inconvenient to move a wheelchair into or out of the health centre.
The condition affects access to a facility used for routine medical needs, including primary care and examinations. For elderly patients and people with disabilities, the ramp is an important part of the route into the building rather than an optional convenience. Damage at this point can therefore make a basic healthcare visit more difficult before treatment begins.
The report does not specify the estimated cost of repairs, the responsible maintenance department, or whether a repair order has already been issued. It also does not mention an official response from the Vasai-Virar civic administration. Residents have called on the civic body to restore the ramp so that patients can reach the health centre safely and with less difficulty.
