Presently, the interstate transit landscape is dominated by approximately 1.25-1.45 million buses, primarily reliant on diesel propulsion. With an estimated 250,000 buses under state government jurisdiction, the transition to electric models emerges as a pivotal strategy to curtail carbon footprints significantly. To facilitate the seamless integration of electric buses into the interstate network, the government unveils a comprehensive plan encompassing various facets of infrastructure and incentivisation. Moreover, a strategic roadmap is under development to assist state governments in procuring electric buses tailored for long-distance operations.
