Raksha Expo 2026 Puts Hyderabad at the Centre of India’s Defence Push

Telangana will host Raksha Expo 2026, the state’s first expo bringing together the aerospace, space, defence and internal security sectors, at Bharat Future City from December 7 to 9 as part of the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026.

The expo’s curtain-raiser is scheduled at Falaknuma Palace on Saturday, with more than 80 industry leaders expected to attend. Participants will include global aerospace and defence original equipment manufacturers, startups, representatives of Bharat Dynamics Limited, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, Electronics Corporation of India Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited, the Defence Research and Development Organisation and Bharat Forge, along with serving and retired armed forces personnel.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said Telangana should lead the transformation taking place in the defence industry as emerging technologies, including drones and new-generation missiles, reshape warfare. He said defence, space, aerospace and internal security would form an important part of the Telangana Rising 2047 vision and the state’s target of building a $1 trillion economy by 2034.

The event is being positioned around the theme “Raksha Paramo Dharmah”, or protection is the highest duty. The state government is linking the expo to Telangana’s historical and industrial identity, drawing references to the Kakatiya Kala Thoranam in Warangal and the Golconda Fort while highlighting the state’s role in strategic manufacturing.

Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju said Hyderabad had contributed to India’s strategic programmes involving missiles, fighter aircraft, satellites and secure communications. He said the city accounted for nearly 30 per cent of the country’s defence and aerospace industry.

According to the figures cited by the state government, India’s defence production reached a record ₹1.78 lakh crore in 2025-26, while defence exports stood at ₹38,424 crore. Telangana’s aerospace exports increased from ₹15,900 crore in 2023-24 to ₹30,742 crore in 2024-25, representing growth of nearly 93 per cent.

The state said its aerospace and defence sector was expanding at more than 30 per cent annually, supported by Telangana’s strategic location and established manufacturing ecosystem. The expo is intended to facilitate partnerships between manufacturers, startups, micro, small and medium enterprises and investors, while strengthening domestic supply chains and India’s defence self-reliance.

A separate curtain-raiser for the Invest Telangana Global Summit is scheduled in Delhi on October 29. The main summit and Raksha Expo 2026 will be held at Bharat Future City from December 7 to 9.
