Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh, is set to revolutionize urban mobility with the installation of five fast four-wheeler Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, marking a significant collaboration between the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). This initiative, aligned with the Ministry of Power’s directives, aims to bolster sustainable transportation alternatives while supporting the state’s urban development goals.
Under the agreement, the RMC will provide the necessary land for the charging stations, while IOC will cover the entire installation costs. Additionally, 10% of the revenue generated from these stations will be allocated to the Municipal Corporation, ensuring mutual benefit and sustainable upkeep of the infrastructure. The selected locations for these EV charging stations have been strategically chosen to maximize accessibility and convenience for residents and commuters. They include prominent sites such as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium Complex near Motibagh, Gandhi Udyan near the Chief Minister’s residence, Old Smart City Limited Office Complex near the Outdoor Stadium Complex (Budha Talab), Anupam Garden (Mahavir Park), and in front of the Central Library Jawahar Bazaar Parking.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing this collaboration was signed in the presence of Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh, the District Collector, underscoring the local administration’s commitment to enhancing public infrastructure in accordance with governmental directives. Municipal Commissioner Abinash Mishra and Sanjay Kachwaha, Divisional Institutional Business Head of IOC, signed the MoU, emphasizing the collaborative spirit driving this initiative forward.
District Collector Dr. Gaurav Kumar Singh expressed satisfaction with the project, highlighting its potential to significantly improve citizen facilities and promote sustainable urban mobility. He urged officials to expedite the installation process to ensure timely completion and operational efficiency. This initiative underscores the welfare-oriented policies of the Chhattisgarh government, championed by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and guided by Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, focusing on enhancing public amenities and promoting eco-friendly transportation solutions. The introduction of these fast EV charging stations in Raipur signifies a proactive step towards sustainable urban development, facilitating cleaner and more efficient mobility options for residents while aligning with global environmental goals.
