Pune Voter List SIR Relief: Documents Can Be Sent Online

Pune residents who received notices under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will not need to visit tehsil, Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer offices to submit supporting documents, according to Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi. The documents can be submitted through WhatsApp or online channels, while Booth Level Officers will also collect them during visits to voters’ homes.

The facility applies to voters who received notices because of “no mapping” or logical discrepancies in their electoral-roll records. The district administration has also extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the SIR process to October 12.

Dudi said voters who had received notices because logical inconsistencies were found in their electoral-roll entries did not need to gather at government offices for hearings. Booth Level Officers would visit their homes and accept the required documents, he said. Depending on the available facility, voters may also submit the documents through WhatsApp or online platforms.

The administration will process each case on the basis of the documents submitted, the report prepared by the Booth Level Officer or a panchnama, the district administration said. A panchnama is a formal record prepared after an on-site verification or assessment. The exact documents required may depend on the discrepancy identified in an individual voter’s record.

The arrangement gives eligible voters another opportunity to register their names in the electoral roll, correct existing details or file objections. It also reduces the need for people to travel to tehsil offices or election authorities, particularly when the notice concerns a record that can be verified through a home visit or digital document submission.

The administration said that if the submitted documents were incomplete, an online hearing could be arranged in exceptional circumstances where necessary. The statement did not specify a single public WhatsApp number or online link for all voters, so recipients will need to use the communication provided by the relevant election officials or Booth Level Officer.

The extension of the claims and objections deadline to October 12 is the next immediate milestone in the process. Cases will be taken forward using the submitted documents, Booth Level Officer reports or panchnamas, with online hearings available in exceptional cases where the documentation remains incomplete.
