Pune Silver Prices Extend Volatile Market Trend

Pune’s silver market ended June on a weaker note after a month marked by sharp price fluctuations, highlighting the growing influence of global economic uncertainty and industrial demand on precious metal investments. While prices remained above levels recorded late last year, the month’s correction reflects changing investor sentiment and evolving commodity market dynamics that continue to shape retail buying and investment decisions across Maharashtra. The Pune Silver Price closed at ₹2,57,900 per kilogram on June 29 after opening the month at ₹2,97,900. During June, the metal reached an intra-month high of ₹2,98,000 before falling to a low of ₹2,13,000, illustrating the heightened volatility experienced by commodity markets. Overall, silver declined by approximately ₹40,000 during the month.

The correction follows a strong performance in May, when silver recorded a monthly gain of ₹25,000 after touching a peak of ₹3,28,100 per kilogram. Earlier months of 2026 also witnessed considerable swings, with January registering exceptional gains before prices retreated through February, March and April as global market conditions shifted.

Commodity analysts attribute the Pune Silver Price movement to a combination of international factors, including fluctuations in the US dollar, inflation expectations, central bank policy signals and geopolitical developments. Unlike gold, silver also derives substantial value from industrial consumption, making its price more sensitive to manufacturing activity, renewable energy investments and electronics production. Industrial demand remains a significant long-term driver for silver markets. The metal is widely used in solar photovoltaic panels, electric vehicles, medical equipment and advanced electronics because of its superior electrical and thermal conductivity. As countries accelerate clean energy transitions, sustained industrial consumption could continue supporting long-term demand despite periods of short-term market volatility.

Market experts note that investors increasingly view silver as both a precious metal and an industrial commodity, resulting in wider price movements compared with gold. While global economic uncertainty often strengthens demand for safe-haven assets, changes in industrial production and manufacturing outlooks can simultaneously influence silver prices in either direction. For retail buyers, experts recommend paying attention to product purity before making purchases. Fine silver with 999 purity is generally preferred for investment bars and coins, while sterling silver with 925 purity remains the standard for jewellery and household products. Buyers are also advised to verify BIS hallmark certification and factor in making charges and Goods and Services Tax, which increase the final purchase price beyond the prevailing market rate.

Financial planners suggest that investors seeking exposure without physical storage may also consider regulated silver exchange-traded funds, while recognising that returns remain linked to market performance and commodity price movements. As global economic conditions continue evolving, the Pune Silver Price is expected to remain influenced by both investment demand and industrial consumption. For households and investors alike, careful monitoring of international markets and domestic demand trends will remain essential in navigating an increasingly dynamic precious metals market.
