A Pune police constable was detained and suspended after allegedly attempting to drive his car through the gate of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar’s official residence following the rejection of his transfer request, according to a report by Lokmat – Pune.
The incident reportedly took place at around 5.45 pm on Tuesday. The constable, identified as Amol Bhise, allegedly arrived at the commissioner’s government residence in an intoxicated condition and insisted on meeting the security guard. After the guard objected to his condition, Bhise allegedly drove the car towards the gate and attempted to enter the premises by force.
Local police detained him and took him to Sassoon Hospital for a medical examination, the report said. He allegedly argued with doctors at the hospital during the examination. A case has been registered against him at the Koregaon Park police station.
According to information attributed to the police, Bhise had previously been suspended in October 2025 in connection with a quarrel. He returned to service in January 2026. The report also said that his service record contained references to mental stress, alcohol use and repeated disputes. These details have been attributed to police information available in the report.
The immediate trigger was reportedly a transfer request to Kharadi police station. Senior officers rejected the request after considering his criminal and disciplinary record, according to the report. The alleged attempt to enter the commissioner’s residence followed that decision.
The incident has led to Bhise’s immediate suspension for a second time and a departmental inquiry. The criminal case registered at Koregaon Park police station will proceed separately from the internal disciplinary process. The available report does not specify the sections of law invoked or the next scheduled legal hearing.
The episode places renewed attention on how police departments handle disciplinary histories, alcohol-related misconduct and requests for postings involving personnel already facing adverse entries in their records. In this case, the police response includes detention, medical examination, registration of a criminal case and suspension, while the inquiry is expected to establish the full sequence of events and determine further action.
The next formal steps are the departmental inquiry and the investigation into the case registered at Koregaon Park police station. Further action against the constable will depend on the findings of those proceedings.
