Pune has intensified efforts to expand the heavily congested Katraj–Kondhwa corridor, with municipal authorities carrying out a major clearance operation along the route to facilitate a long-delayed transport infrastructure project. The move is expected to improve traffic flow, strengthen east-west connectivity and support more efficient urban mobility in one of the city’s fastest-growing residential and commercial zones. The latest action focused on removing structures and encroachments along key sections of the corridor where land acquisition and road expansion work is underway. The Katraj Kondhwa Road widening project has gained importance as Pune’s urban footprint continues to expand beyond traditional city limits.
