Pune police have registered a case against 13 people, including Infratech company owner Kisan Dhawaji Rathod, after 51 buyers were allegedly defrauded of ₹89.07 lakh through promises of low-cost flats and plots in the Katraj Valley housing project.
The case was registered at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station following a complaint by Vandana Dnyandev Khandare, a 38-year-old nurse from Bibwewadi. According to the complaint and police information reported by Civic Mirror, the alleged transactions took place between 2023 and September 18, 2026.
Khandare said she saw an advertisement for the Katraj Valley project on social media in July 2023 while searching for an affordable home. She was subsequently called to the company’s office in Mangadewadi, where she was shown flats priced at ₹8 lakh and ₹14 lakh. She allegedly paid ₹2 lakh as a booking amount and signed an agreement with Chaitrali Dahiwal, identified in the complaint as a company representative.
The complaint states that Sagar Gole and Amol Gore allegedly told her that the project would be formally launched and construction would begin within six months. When no construction began after the stated period, Khandare visited the company’s office to seek information and request a refund. She was allegedly unable to obtain satisfactory answers.
The police case names Kisan Dhawaji Rathod, Sushalini Kisan Rathod, Shivkanya Rathod, Pranavi Bhagwat Anerao, Chaitrali Vishal Dahiwal, Sanjana Rathod, Anil Shankar Deshmukh, Hanumant Balu Gore, Rajesh Rangrao Kakade, Balasaheb Kondiba Ghogre, Abhishek Chandrashekhar Saswade, Sagar Gole and Amol Gore.
According to the report, police found during their inquiry that the company had collected booking amounts from several people by offering flats and open plots, but had not handed over possession of either. The total alleged loss involving 51 people is ₹89 lakh. The report also cites buyers who said construction had not begun despite payments and assurances about starting work within specified periods.
One buyer, Karuna Vijay Gaikwad, said the company had promised to begin work around Dussehra and had suggested that larger payments would result in faster completion. Another buyer, Kalpana Gaikwad, said families had invested their savings after being attracted by the prospect of affordable housing near the highway, but that even basic excavation had not taken place. Santosh Parde, another buyer, alleged that several company offices in Pune had closed.
Civic Mirror reported that it attempted to contact Infratech but received no response. The allegations have not been established in court. Police Sub-Inspector Patil is conducting the further investigation.
