The Pune Municipal Corporation’s construction development department removed unauthorised metal sheds and other structures covering 28,800 square feet along DP Road in the Sadesatranali area of Hadapsar, according to a report by Sakal – Pune published on October 27, 2026.
The structures had reportedly been erected by businesses in front margins and open spaces along the road. The civic action targeted sheds and other unauthorised construction that had been built without permission and in violation of applicable rules, the report said.
The operation was carried out using heavy equipment, including a JCB and a jaw cutter. The civic team dismantled the metal sheds and removed the other structures during the drive. The report did not specify the number of properties or businesses affected by the action.
The drive was conducted by the Pune Municipal Corporation’s construction development department. It was carried out under the guidance of city engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar and superintendent engineer Pravin Shende. Deputy engineer Sandeep Shinde, junior engineer Rameez Faras, draftspeople Jayshree Joshi and Roshan Jadhav were part of the team that implemented the action, according to the report.
The removal forms part of a series of enforcement actions that the department has been conducting against unauthorised construction in Pune over the past several months, Sakal – Pune reported. The latest operation focused on structures occupying front margins and open areas along DP Road in Sadesatranali.
Front margins and open spaces are important parts of the built environment around roads and buildings because their use can affect movement, access and the functioning of surrounding public areas. In this case, the civic department identified the sheds as unauthorised structures and used mechanical equipment to clear them. The source report did not provide details about the notices issued before the action, the ownership of the affected land or whether any appeals or legal proceedings were pending.
The report also did not state whether the cleared area would be restored for a specific public use or whether further action would be taken against other structures in the locality. The municipal department’s continuing enforcement campaign against unauthorised construction remains the stated next step in the broader action described by the civic authorities.
