Polish PM Bengaluru Visit Opens New IT, Space Push

Polish Prime Minister Donald Franciszek Tusk met Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in Bengaluru while leading a delegation of around 100 Polish business leaders to explore cooperation with the state’s information technology and space sectors.

State Minister Priyank Kharge and other Karnataka ministers were also present at the meeting, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle citing ANI. The visit brings a large Polish business delegation to Bengaluru, one of India’s principal centres for information and communications technology, aerospace and emerging technology companies.

Poland’s Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański said the delegation had travelled to Bengaluru for meetings with India’s ICT sector. Representatives from Poland’s space and IT industries were accompanying the delegation, he said, as both sides explored opportunities for greater cooperation with Indian companies.

“Prime Minister Tusk had many really important meetings with political leaders. Of course, a very, very good meeting with Prime Minister Modi, but also a discussion with business leaders,” Domański told ANI. He said the delegation was seeking to strengthen cooperation with Indian companies and described the meetings in Bengaluru as part of that effort.

The visit places Bengaluru’s technology ecosystem at the centre of a wider India-Poland effort to expand trade and business ties. Domański said there was significant scope for cooperation in information technology and space, sectors in which Bengaluru has a large concentration of companies, research capabilities and specialised talent. The report did not specify any agreements, investment commitments or project timelines resulting from the meeting with Karnataka’s leadership.

Bilateral trade between India and Poland rose by 192 per cent between 2013 and 2025, increasing from USD 1.95 billion to USD 6.36 billion, according to the report. The trade balance has largely remained in India’s favour during this period.

India’s major exports to Poland include textiles and apparel, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, electronic machinery, engineering goods, vehicles, rubber and mineral fuels. Imports from Poland include machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment, mineral fuels, precious metals and stones, precision and medical instruments, and aircraft and spacecraft-related products.

The delegation’s Bengaluru meetings could broaden the city’s role in India’s international technology and aerospace partnerships, although the immediate outcome will depend on whether discussions lead to formal business agreements or institutional cooperation. The report said the Polish delegation was continuing meetings with Indian political leaders and business representatives during Prime Minister Tusk’s official visit to India.
